The ICT Association of Zambia vice president Dr Serah Beza Mbewe and Committee Member Ms Malala Simungala attended the 2025 ICT Association of Malawi Annual General Meeting, Innovation Awards, and Training in Mangochi, Malawi, held under theme “AI for sustainable development: Advancing Malawi digital future”.
Dr Serah Mbewe, who is also the ICT Director at Levy Mwanawasa Medical University made a presentation under the topic “Transforming education with AI: Personalized Learning and Smart Classroom” that outlined the use of AI in the education sector.
The event gathered over 400 participates from the ICT sector from several sectors including education, agriculture, Fintech, banking and development agencies.
Malawi’s Republican Vice President Jane Ansah called on information technology professionals to uphold professionalism, ethics and integrity to protect the reputation of their field. Stating that the IT sector plays an important role in driving the economy.
“I am happy with this gathering because it is where you share knowledge on ICT and explore ways to advance the country. I am particularly pleased with the theme because it focuses on AI. Therefore, I urge you to leverage these skills so that you can help drive the country’s economy,” she said.
Earlier this year, ICTAM President Clarence Gama attended and addressed the 2025 ICTAZ AGM, marking the continued collaboration between the two countries and the advancement of the ICT sector on the continent. ICT Association of Malawi – ICTAM
